question about ac condenser removal 960 900

According to the FAQ section the first step says;
"Remove grill, top grill cover panel, and upper radiator support member"
My question has to do with the upper radiator support member. I have a 96 960 wagon and I'm waiting for the correct part from FCP, they sent the wrong one but are taking care of it. I was just looking at the job and was trying to figure out if I had to remove the radiator to get to the condenser. The radiator has two small holders that support the radiator and a crossmember that appears to go from fender to fender. Does this crossmember have to be removed? Can I just remove the 2 radiator brackets on top and get the condenser out?
I guess some of these questons will be answered once I start tearing into it.

Thanks
Neil
