New Wheels - Wider Tires Possible? 900

Hi, I have recently purchased and installed a set of Voxx rims (17x8) for my 940T from Tire Direct, and ordered them with tires mounted. I am very happy with the new look and handling, and have further handling upgrades planned.

The only tire size that were specified as a match from Tire Direct were 215/45-17, so I ordered them, however there is plenty of room in the rear wheelwells for wider tires. Also the tires look somewhat narrow for these rims, and the rims are the widest point of the overall tire/wheel package; I am certain a wider tire will fit.

I cannot find any sites that explain what tires will fit a 17 x 8 rim. I have been told that these rims will accommodate a tire as wide as a 245mm. I would eventually like to have wider tires on the rear as horsepower increases!

Anybody know?
