...how to bring this 15 MPG up? 700 1990

Dear all,

I have got a '90 745 (Turbo) wagon. There is a plenty of power in it and pressing the gas full way almost never happens to me. There is a custom exhaust which lacks the front muffler (or resonator) and seems to give less backpressure than the factory exhaust. However in short city trips and long idling at traffic lights the turbo beast consumes a lot of gas - I am normally getting 15 MPG, auto transmission. Switching from regular to premium fuel grade makes no change (not sure it should). Are there any ideas what can be tuned or checked up to get a better MPG? Probably someone with 745 can tell me their MPG numbers? Thanks.
