Does the fuel line have any check valves?
Do they fail open allowing the fuel line to depressurize?

Our '90 244 needs several seconds of cranking for it to catch. Sounds like no fuel, for those few seconds.

I know this could be caused by a dead in-tank pump, or by a perforated pickup tube for the in-tank pump. Also could be caused by a crank position sensor (aka RPM sensor) + its shielded cable that are at the end of their service life. I'm just wondering if it could be cuased by check valves gone bad instead. Are there check valves and how to check or replace them??
