Fuel pump problem? need some help please 700

Hello I have a 92 740 8v with 167k on it and Im having a problem with the fuel pump I think. A few months back maybe 6 or 8 we got in the car to go some place and it wouldnt start. It would turn just fine not easy like broken timing belt but it just kept cranking. After a few times I let the car sit a while and tryed it again and it fired right up like nothing ever happened. We went on our way and it did it again about 3 mts ago this time I held mu foot to the floor and it fired right off. I got a new relay so if it happend again I could solve maybe a relay problem. Well it happened again today changed the relay and nothing. I fixed the dash and lighter turned the key HELD my foot on the fuel and it fired right up. I know the used car dealer put a in tank fuel pump in it before I bought it, cause he thought it was bad. Turned out to be crank sensor.

So do you all think Im on the right track and if so what one do I need there is a couple listed in the chilton book and FCP site it list two and I dont have a Calf car. I know it was sold first here in Greenville SC.

Thanks for any help Vince

PS wife is taking it on vacation with the kids next week so Id like to get this resolved soon.
