Late model A/C Switch - my snowflake is melting 200 1992

Does anyone know why the white snowflake on the late model A/C switch 'flakes' off so easily compared to the other switches? Two days ago I had a perfect full snowflake, and since using the A/C quite a bit during the recent heat wave, the paint just disappeared?! This hasn't happened at all on my other switches. And, any time I see these A/C switches on ebay or at the junkyard, it's the same thing. What's up?
