1989 240 computer problem 200

First make sure that the fuse on the driver's side fender well is clean and making contact.

Second make sure the fuelpump relay above the passenger's feet is working properly. It is above the knee bolster on the firewall.

If these items are OK use a jumper wire to connect fuse post 4 to fuse post 6. This will force the pumps to run and the car should start.

If it starts and runs with the jumper in place it is a very good indication the 561 computer has failed, BUT make sure the fuse and relay are good as the jumper simply bypasses that part of the circuit. It would be easy to install the jumper and have it start and think it was the computer when in fact it could only be the fuse or relay.

I have had two 561 computers go bad in 89 240's.
