1986 245 starts, 5 second run and dies 200

I am looking at buying this 245 GL with 198,000 miles for $400.00 US. Body and interior are good. The current owner reports it will start and run for 5 seconds and die. Tha car developed this symptom 1 year ago and then was parked. Could this be fuel pump related?
