Stalling 200 1990

A friend's 240 wagon (about 150k) which had the AMM, and O2 sensor replaced and the air bypass cleaned recently has a problem with a sudden loss of power not long after starting from cold. The shop she took it to told her the new components have to get used to each other and reprogram themselves. She left it with me last night so I could see if I could experience the problem and give her an idea if the shop is right or FOS. After a cool night I started the car and took off straight away and it didn't do it. It only idles too high. Any thoughts?
