ignition lock woes 700 1990

A terrible thing happened the other night,I let someone use my 740 gle and the igntion key broke off on the igntion lock,two different lock smiths said because Volvo uses those spring loaded roll pins they can remove the broken piece with me bringing in the lock assembly,I can't get out the lock assembly even with the steering column un bolted from the stay and lifted out enough to slide the lock assembly out.The problem is that brass looking release tab,because the wheel is in the lock mode the pin won't pusk to release the lock from the steering cloumn.What is the way to remove the lock from the steering column?
