What is the best performance brake pads? 900 1994

Several months ago, I installed a set of brake pads from autozone, and did not like how they performed. What would be the brake pads that have more 'bite' and do not cost a lot? I don't really care about wear life and dust as the car is driven by wife and I want to make sure the brake performs well.
