R134 A/C Conversion Questions (1986 240DL) 200 1986

I'm planning on converting my A/C this year from R12 to R134 and have a few questions. I'm buying the FCP Groton 1975-1990 AC Conversion Kit & replacing all of the A/C hoses to "barrier type" hoses to minimize R134 leakage. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. My questions:

1) OEM Volvo condenser - Is it adequate to get cold air or is a parallel flow type necessary for R134? I'm really don't want to spend the money, but would like to hear of anyone's experiences.

2) Given the original Diesel Kiki compressor is 20 years old, should I replace while converting the system? If so, should I replace with the same model or consider the Sanden SD7H15 (SD709)? Also the R134 compressors usually do not have the charge ports? Is this a issue?

The original system never did cool that well. Thanks in advance.
