1997 965 OBD code for problem in evaporative emission control system......

That's what the scanner said, anyway.

Happened once beforem months ago, but the CE light went out so I did nothing further. No such luck this time.

The car came to me with a Stant brand gas cap. I replaced it with a green one from one of my 240s. Should I opt for a dealer-supplied cap?

The rubber cup around the gas filler has a plugged drain. Long enough rain and the cup gets filled with water. At the cas station, I remove the water before opening the cap, seems that should keep water from the tank.

The guy with the scanner said maybe it is a bad vacuum hose.

Emission sticker expires 30 June, so we'll be at risk 'til that CE light is out.

Any and all ideas and experiences will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Bob
