Quick shift from 2nd to 3rd on AW70 700

Hi,
I have a 1987 740 with an AW70 automatic transmission & 200,000 miles. I got the car about 6 months ago and have been restoring it. Now that I have the engine practically rebuilt, I am able to drive her much more. The tranny shifts smoothly, but after what seems to be a normal range for first gear, the tranny then shifts to 2nd and almost immediately drops into 3rd.

Any idea why it wants to go immediately into 3rd? I'm going to manually shift into each gear this evening to make sure they all work fine, but am curious to know why it does this.
