proper placement of hydraulic floor jack to lift a 240 and a v90 200 1990

I am the proud owner of a 98 v90(142K), and just bought my second 240 (1990, 176k, needs some work).

I bought a hydraulic floor jack, jack stands, and a creeper to be able to work on the car, and am unsure of the best location to lift either car to get the stands in place. I am assuming the pest place to set the stands is where you would locate the tire jack. Suggestions? can i really lift it by the differential?
