trouble starting 240 when it's hot and lights out 200 1990

I have a '90 240 sedan with about 98000 miles on it and more recently than ever before, it won't start. When I leave for work at 4:30am it starts right up and runs fine, leaving work or any other time the outside temp is above around 85 the damn thing won't start. I eventually get it going after a while from 15 minutes to two hours of waiting and trying. The tank is usually 3/4 to full. The engine cranks but just won't fire. Any ideas? I know I've got to go to a mechanic for other stuff but would like to know what I'm in for with this issue. On a side note just recently the dash lights are out, when I turn on the headlights the turn signals green arrows go on steady, the tach doesn't work and the main dash lights don't go on.
