960/1997 obd II is not ready 900 1997

Guys, on my 960 the timingbelt tentioner failed, so the whole engine went to hell. I rebuilt it, it runns very well. However, I can not pass the emmission test because the obd II is not ready. I got a 30 days extention, I drove the car for 5 - 600 miles however it still does not pass the test. It does not fail, however it is not ready, whatever this means. Im am electrical engineer, I have a good idea what is a computer... so could please someeone explain to me what are they looking for, what the computer should have, what can be wrong with my computer, what is a drivecycle.... or what magic do I have to do with my computer that it can pass the test. I have one of those obd II readers, which is telling me that the computer is passing, no code returned... because there is no code, or because there is no errorcode.... Thanks guys, Gabe
