Jerky fuel pressure maybe? 200 1978

My first thought is that you are experiencing sporadic fuel pressure variations. Maybe the main pump dying, or something erratic in the circuit that powers the pump.

In the K-jet system, such jumpy fuel pressure might translate into variations in the control pressure that acts to stabilize the airflow sensing plate, making it act like you were pumping the "gas" pedal.

In any case, a check of both System and Control fuel pressures is usually the recommended place to start on a possible K-jet FI problem. This is usually not a DIY thing, as a special pressure gauge setup is needed.
