plug wire arcing, can i test it or fix it?

brickboard,

a couple of years ago, i tuned up my 1990 240 dl with an IPD kit that included new wires.

these wires are the ones that have the steel shields around the plugs and about 4 inches up the plug, probably for a heat shield. i think the brand is bougicord.

anyway, yeaterday i had my hood opened and i noticed spark arcing from the end of the steel shield to my block on one of the plugs.

obviously this is a bad thing.

is the plug wire definetely bad or could it be that i need to clean or repair it? is there a good test i can run with an ohm meeter that will tell me if it is shot. or should i just go ahead and put another set of wires on it?

i figured that i would get more than a couple years from a new set of wires.

please advise. thank you.
