SERPENTINE BELT TOO LONG !!! HELP S90-V90

Hi, I have just replaced my serpentine belt and when ordered from a Volvo garage I was told that up to 1996 the shorter belt was the correct one but if it has had the A/C compressor replaced then it is the longer belt.The later factory fitted compressor must have a larger pulley to decrease the revolutions for some reason.I bought the shorter one for my 96 as the compressor is original and it fitted OK, the diameter of my A/C clutch or pulley is 130mm or five and one eighth inches. I hope this helps?
