throttle body question 700

my 91 740 b230 started having difficulty starting and tried to stall at idle, so I thought I would clean the throttle body. I noticed that the larger vacuum line (the one closest to the radiator) was disconnected at the throttle body. I found the hose end and saw that it had split, so I just trimmed off a bit and slipped it on. I noticed plenty of play on the hose, and traced the other end - which was also loose, down by the radiator.

question - where does the other end go??? and could that have been the cause of my starting issue and idle stall?
