Toyoto Question 200 1992

I own a 240 volvo and have had volvos many years. I also have a toyota minivan 1998 with 94,000 miles. I apologize for using this web site for a non volvo question but would appreciate any tips.

The "check engine" idiot light came on last night. The manual indicataes this means you are low on gas, or the gas cap is loose, or "take car to toyota dealer". I am not out of gas nor is the gas cap loose. Would anyone have any tips on what this light could mean. The engine does appear to be running a tad rough.

I would appreciate any tips. Thanks.
