dirty crank position sensor 200

hello all,

just removed the crank position sensor in my 90 240. the car frequently churned before starting so i thought - after reading several posts here to check it out.

got it out pretty easily, however, when i checked it out the metal connection on the end was pretty covered with oil, grease and general engine gunk...cleaned it off, put her back in and she seems to start better.

i haven't started her enough to see whether this will make a huge difference, but my question is - would the oil, grease and dirt actually affect the performance of this part?

thanks

g
