Engine hesitation at Hwy speeds 900

I don't know if I am worrying about nothing here, but here is my problem.
While cruising at about 120km/h it almost feels like the motor of my car is missing or hesitating. My car is a '93 945T(with 295K km's). Could this hesitation be the precursor of a big expensive problem.
The plugs and distributor have been in the car for about one year. I have no idea about the other parts of the ignition system. Fuel filter was changed last year. I think that the car has a carbon build-up problem because it tends to ping when engine is hot and under a heavy load.
The other thing that I have recently done was that I replaced my rear springs with IPD overloads. I didn't change my shocks, they are definetly tired. I just don't have the money to replace them yet.
Could the spring change give me the sensation of an engine miss or hesitation?
Just curious, thanks in advance for any clues or advice.

Paul
