clock adjustment stops functioning 700 1990

I adjusted my clock today ... maybe for the last time. I'm not sure why, but it seems that something had moved since I adjusted the time backwards 5 minutes after adjusting it forward 25. I had the batt cable off and the clock works fine now, but it feels like something is in the way now. Does this mean I get to pull apart the instrument cluster?
