A Question about wiring a 245 rear wiper motor 444-544

I've installed a 245 motor in place of the original 6 volt motor and need advice from someone better versed in electrical matters than I am. The 245 motor has only 3 leads: a switched hot, a constant hot and a ground. I'm thinking that when the switch is off, the switched hot should connect to ground and that this would somehow brake the motor when it rotates to the park position. As it is hooked up now it sort of coasts to a stop. I am reluctant to just try it out because there is a diode in there doing something and I don't want to blow it out. Hope I made this clear enough for someone familiar with this motor.

Thanks
Buz
