Volvo 940 Wagon Crank Problems 900 1993

Dear Monokraftic,

May this find you well. Relay solder joints develop micro-cracks, too small to be seen with the unaided eye. Sometimes it is clear, that a solder joint has failed. In other cases, re-flowing the solder - with a 15-25-watt iron, applied for a second or two to every joint - fixes the problem. It may not be clear which one was faulty.

The beauty of re-flowing the solder, is that if it fails to help, you're no worse-off than before. If it does work, you're back on the road promptly.

You should re-flow all accessible solder joints, and clean the relay contacts.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
