Quirky AC 200 1993

It's been hot in the midwest and "Clarence" (my daughters 93 240 wagon) has been a bit quirky.
I'm hoping someone on the forum can advise on what to do.
This is what happened...
1. Start out in the morning with AC turned off.
2. Mid morning turn AC on ... blows cold ... everythings good.
3. Stop for lunch
4. Mid afternoon AC no longer blows cold.
5. Turn AC off

Next day
1. Start out in the morning AC blows cold for about 15 min ,,,,, followed by faint "squeeling" sounds ... AC no longer blows cold AND Power steering becomes considerably harder/firmer. Turn AC off and power steering returns to normal.

Is this a belt problem?

thanks
