Rear view mirror installation 120-130

A few years ago I installed a later style (post 72) rear view mirrow that is attached to the door frame by screws from outside. I am considering swapping over to the true style mirror (post 68)attached by studs and bolted from inside the door. Before I undertake the swap and take off the door handles and panels has anyone installed the earlier version and how difficult is it to actually tighten the nuts from inside the door? Do I have to be a contortionist to be able to get enough movement to get into that corner?

Cheers
Bilo
