Phil:

Your explanation correlates very well to how the present speedo is operating. Gauge cluster removal on a 122 is a little too cumbersome for me to experiment much. I'll start refinishing the spare cluster and hope there is only one more day of speedo surgery in my future.

Thanks much for the insight.

Has anyone found a source for the paper gaskets that go between the temp or fuel gauge and the cluster housing?
