Hi all, Despite my best effort to find the source of this problem, I'm still getting a light gasoline smell in the cabin at startup. The smell lingers until I get the car in motion and it fades quickly. What is annoying is that the smell is coming through the vents so keeping the windows up does not help.
I initially noticed this back around christmas and have subsequently replaced the intake manifold gasket and my temperature sensor. The gasket was defnitly a contributor, and I thought that maybe the engine temp sensor was malfunctioning dumping too much gas in when the car was cold.
I've also poked around under the hood when the car has just been started, but I can't chase out the source or see any obvious leaks.
The fuel consumption and mileage is normal. I've replaced the FPR in the spring when I replaced the temp sensor (water side). The vacuum lines feel and sound good, so I'm left to wonder if the FI temp sensor may also need to be replaced.
I've not tried to pull any engine codes yet.
I really need to find the problem. My venerable brick is going to my wife as it has the car seat and provides the best protection for my 6-week old daughter. Sadly this leaves me with a totyota corolla to drive, my frankenstein P1800, or my P220 as my daily driver.
Any help/advice is appreciated.
Thanks
