More fun with the Blue car - driveshaft problems!!! 200 1980

Hello,

The 1980 244 bluecar never fails to fail.

Now, it is some noise and rough idle which happen at lower speeds. There is also shaking.

At first, I thought it was the carb again (if you remember the gasoline drinking saga), but this was not the case. The carb man said it is the driveshaft. (the car still likes to drink, thank you very much).

So my question is this:

What can go with the driveshaft that it makes noises and shakes? I beleive I smell also some burnt rubber. How does this all relate, and can I fix this myself?
