AC works intermittently 900

My 93 945T has the intermittent AC blues. This is a factory R134A system recently recharged with low-side pressure of about 30. The compressor cycles rapidly, as most of these compressors do, and the system cools pretty well ... about half the time. The other half of the time, the compressor shuts down and I get nothing but warm air. I suspect a faulty lowside pressure switch, but can't be sure since the damned thing works fine every time I take it in to my independent mechanic. Anybody got an experience with similar symptoms on a 93 vintage 940...no climate control.
