Strange acting CLUTCH. HELP!!!!!!! 200 1986

So, I have an 86 244DL with a M46 Trans. It has gotten very hard to push the clutch peddal in. When I push it in it does go all the way to the floor. However, it's as if it's not fully releasing. Just the slightest of easing up on it and it starts to move. The clutch does not slip at ALL! I can put it in 4th and rev the engine, dump the clutch and it stalls imediatly. I've been quated as much as 850.00 for a new clutch (installed). Thought about doing it myself but I don't have a garage. Then I called AAMCO and Peggy told me the mech said it sounds like it could be just the cable either stretched or binding. I'm not sure. I've done a few adjustments and it doesn't get much better if at all. I guess it could be binding???? The other thing they suggested is the release bearing. If it is that should at that point just do the entire clutch? Is AAMCO good? This Peggy I spoke to says, worst case would be $400.00 to $500.00. Sounds kind of low considering everywhere else I called was $700.00 to $850.00. 4 hours labor most state which is $500.00 alone. HELP! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
