insulation/firewall 1800 1965

On my list of things to do this summer on my '65S is put new insulation along the floorboards and firewall. Where is a good place to start? I've done some research on the net and found a couple of companies that sell a type of insulation which says it diminishes the heat along with sound. I need both! My new (to me)baby has headers and gets very warm after driving for brief amounts of time, not including the noise. I've heard that wrapping them will contribute to their deteriorating quicker.
Also, would you recommend wrapping my headers or spraying them, or both, to assist in the heat? I've seen sites that have both for headers.
Oh, are there firewall plugs/grommets available? I'm using duct tape to cover both sides of 3 holes that I've got (steering column, carb linkage, etc.)
Again, thanks for your help! Happy motoring.........
