Lights MIA 700 1990

Seems like several lights in my 1990 740 GLE wagon have decided to start vacation without me. Among the missing are all three brake lights and the rear running lights (turn signals & backup lights still work). Inside the lights for the transmission shifter, heater/AC fan, and all the rocker switches are out. Changing fuses didn't help. The odd thing is that the bulb out light in the instrument panel never came on; I found out from a friend following me that my brake lights weren't working. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you have.
