240 oil light on - oil levels look fine

Hello - we have a '93 245 with 170K. The oil warning light has be coming on every now and then and especially if the car is on a steep incline. The oil level always checks fine and no signs of leaks - do these sensors go bad ? How big a job (is this a do it yourself sort of thing?) Also, the car has the original 02 sensor - should these be changed as other preventive maint. ?

Thanks
