Harmonic balancer hold tool problem 900 1994

Hi all-

I am changing the timing belt and the harmonic balancer/bottom pulley on my 1994 940 Turbo. I got a new Sacntech pulley and the hold tool from FCP Groton. So, the hold tool won't engage well enough in the pulley, and slips off, when I try to torque the crank bolt. Now I read this in the FAQs:

Note that Scantech and some Volvo harmonic balancers must have the holes filed out to fit the 5284 tool. The casting is ridged, causing the tool to shift under torque. File square.

Anyone else had this problem? Anyone else filed the holes square? Any balance problems result from that? I don't want to cause balance problems by filing on the new pulley.

Needless to say, I am not satisfied with the new pulley or the new hold tool, which has beveled edges, lots of flex, and did not seem to be made with the proper geometry.

Thanks.
