Doorlocks have me stymied--how to replace w/out keys? 120-130 1966

I also had keys made from a locksmith who ran a pick down the lock to feel the tumblers and filed a blank key until it worked. It took about 15 minutes with him feeling the tumblers and then filing, and repeating until he thought he had it right, then trying it, then a little more feeling the tumblers, and then a little more filing, then trying it, until he got it to work. It was pretty interesting, a little scary because he made it look so easy.
