I've been thinking about the fate of my car for the past few weeks and still haven't made a decision...so I thought I'd try to get some advice from the volvo gods.
I got my 87 760T in May `05 for free from a relative who had let it sit for 3 years after frying the engine. 1 year later the car has undergone an engine change (salvage yard engine, done by a friend who only works on Chevys), had almost everything fixed (all thats left is the power seat thats broken and ripped, fog lights and a running problem to be described later). All for about 4500$...
Yet she still doesn't run right...she runs VERY rich (10mpg) and I can't go into boost (already changed the entire intake, for those of you who want me to check that). I'm only an amateur so I brought it to the mechanic when I ran out of ideas, and he's telling me that the harness was maybe cooked when the original engine overheated ($$$) or the guy who changed the engine didn't align the tranny and the engine right (something with a pin and a flywheel...that would cause the engine to run rich and have timing troubles...) which is $$$ once again.
So facing a big bill I can't decide: sell the car and buy a newer one (even though I can't afford it as I just graduated and have loans to pay) OR shell out another bunch of $$$ to get the car running right once and for all...I've been thinking about this for 4 weeks...any advice would be greatly appreciated!
