240 quits with no warning 200 1988

1988 240 4 cyl quits with no warning. It seems to happen after it is driven then parked for a few minutes then driven again but we can't seem to make it happen. Local Volvo guru replaced the fuel pump relay because he said it was running hot but it continues to happen and baffles us as to the cause.

When the car quits then sits for a while it starts rather hard.....lots of shaking like its only hitting on 2 or 3 but then it starts and runs fine.

I don't want to just change parts till I find the right one. I'm thinking computer, coil, or fuel injection control for electrical or fuel pump or filter for fuel system.

Any opinions welcome.

Thanks
