740T clutch slave cylinder removal 700 1988

I am in the midst of dropping the M46 in my car for the purpose of swapping out the rear seal, and, while I am at it, the clutch assy as well.
I am at the point where I can remove the bellhousing bolts, but the step prior to that is the removal of the slave cylinder. I can't seem to budge it, and wonder if there is a trick I am missing.
It is not held in by any bolts, only the circlip or snap ring which I have removed already. It seems to be a friction fit (!!!) into the bellhousing casting. I have loosened the hydraulic line, and liberally applied p'blaster, and the thing will not budge. I have tried pounding on the thing, and even put a pipe wrench on it to see if it would move even a little, with no results. The manuals I have give no description other than 'remove circlip, loosen line, remove slave cylinder'.
Anybody got some advice???
Thanks
JD
