Recommendations for hardwiring electrical accessory 700

Most electical accessories like radar detectors or cell phone chargers of course use the cigarette lighter to power the device. The part that goes into the cigarette lighter outlet can be easily taken apart and basically just contains two wires. Can you guys describe a recommended way to hard wire such an accessory so that it is powered only when the car is running (or the key is in the "accessory" position, thus freeing up the one and only electrical outlet in the car?

Thanks!
