Stripped cam cover bolts. 900

Anyone have experience with stripped cam cover bolts on the 960?. This engine was rebuilt due to the porous block problem and a number of the cover bolts were stripped. The car works fine but oil is continuously filling the indentations under the plug cover and spilling down onto the exhaust. Very annoying and smelly. I am wondering if the cover can be removed and helicoils installed. One Volvo shop here in Edmonton implied that there isn't enough space to bore out the hole for the coils. Any easy (or difficult for that matter) fixes?
