reconnecting the temperature gauge sensor wire 120-130

The wire to the temperature gauge sensor unit in my 1965 220 was severed by a previous owner and I'd like to reconnect it. However, i've never seen a wire constructed like the this one and haven't got a clue about how to do it. The wire in question has a solid core and a braided metal shroud. Any suggestions about how to reconnect it?
