Speedometer S90-V90 1998

The speedo on the above sometimes does not work and when this happens the gear change is uneven (stays in first and only changes up after plenty of revs have been reached) which leads to the transmission fault lights flashing on dash and next to gear shift. Had Volvo recently replace whole transmission DEC2005 with a new one and also replace speedo JULY2006 with a new one. I then drove car for 1000 miles/1 week before fault showed up again as before. Any ideas.
