Hot idle problem - 74 164E 140-160

I have a '74 164E that runs great after sitting overnight - not a problem at all - idles well and you'd never know anything was wrong.

After the car runs for a while and sits for more than 10 minutes, it will not idle at all. Every time I release the gas pedal, the engine sputters and dies and it takes several times to get it restarted. It will do that as long as the engine is warm. Once it cools, it will idle without issue.

Any ideas?? Vacuum leak, something sticking open or closed?? It doesn't make sense that the car has no problem and will idle fine as long as it is run after the engine has cooled. Once the engine is hot and restarted, it will not run without constantly keeping the engine revved - if I let it drop to idle, it dies.

Any ideas or help as to where to begin looking would be appreciated.
