AC recharge - should I replace accumulator / dryer - other ???s too 900 1993

AC is probably the system I am least familiar with on my car. Before I go in for a recharge I have many questions I'd like to have answers for.

I have found a local shop that I feel pretty comfortable with. I'm want to make sure that they understand that I probably know more about MY car than they do though. If I had AC equipment, I would be doing this myself.

Here are some of my thoughts and questions, please confirm, deny or correct me as required..

*There is no high side port on a 1993 R134 CCOT system right?? The tech I talked to found this very hard to believe, he thought there must be something 'buried' somewhere. I was adament that there wasnt.

*Because the charge port is on the low pressure side you must fill by weight not pressure. Which is about 990grams ~approx 2 lbs of refrigerant. The shop said they had a scale and would be willing to charge by this method.

*The system has been open several times in the past 4 years but has been sealed and functioning fine for about 3.5 years. It is starting to cycle a lot and not cooling well. Should I replace the accumulator / dryer? will replacing it help with system performance?

*Does the compressor oil get recovered during the vacuum pull down?

*What type of oil should go back in? special kind?

*Where does the oil get added? via the charge port I'm guessing?

*What other type of education do I need?

Thanks in advance for reading and responding.
