Motor Mount Replacement Question 200 1987

It's time to replace the motor mounts, since both have sheared at the upper end. I managed to get the search function to work well enough to get information on the removal and replacement process. What I really want to know is which method of supporting the engine works best, or is the preferred method. Anybody replace their mounts using the lift from below method one time and the lift from above another? Have a preference? Pro's and Con's? I am a little leary about damaging the oil pan, or having good support on the side of the pan. And even though I have done the lift from above on another car, it had more contact area than appears to be on the 240. Any concern of damaging the fender rails? Thanks in advance.
