Hi I am new here. Great message board & info. about Volvo's. I have owned a VOlvo since 1971. Preferred DL's but now have this mystery 940 Volvo. It has the same B230F engine & regina instead of Bosch fuel injection.
I was also past Pres. of Hudson Valley Volvo Club 13 years whe upstate NY. It was great to see this website & system information. THanks!!
Recently, the engine will turn over, but not start. I did start when I pounded the left panel & turned the ignition key on at the same time as described in the post here I read yesterday. If it won't start in Park, it will start in Neutral...for now until I can find out what tool to use to loosen the 2 Phillipshead screws & where to get this tool a.s.a.p!
I was barely able to reach around the fuel pump relay & try to wiggle it & press down to see if that would cure the problem until I can get the 2 screws removed! This actually worked since yeasterday many times until this afternoon as far as starting.
I have removed the ashtray & fuse cover bshind that ok & can see the two screws mentioned . THey are both at 45 degre angles with a washer.
It is virtually impossible to loosen either screw. I need to know what specific tool will successfully do this!
It i a Philips head screw, according to the post that I read about here.
I have the new fuel pump relay part & once the left panel is removed I will hope fully have access to the relays. Please give any details so there are no surprises!
I want to see what condition the printed circuit board is in since I now know of the array of electrical & parts overheating problems this Volvo model has !!
I am sad to hear of all this. My DL's were easy to work on & I enjoyed doing so.
THis 940 does not use the same tools as the DL. So I am lost. Other interior items have failed as well( sunroof motor, power seat forward motor, bulbs to illuminate the Drive position). I purchased this Volvo used & it runs well & handles great!
Please reply with all the details involved so I may do this replacement job more easily. Thanks!!!
